Carl works largely from a humanistic, client-centered perspective that maintains the client as the foremost expert in their own lives. Carl views his counselling role as allowing himself to be a consistently authentic and professional mirror for clients. Through therapeutic relationship, people can begin to deepen understanding of themselves and their relationship with the world.
This deepening of understanding is a central piece of counselling work, whether it be understanding of our past, present, or future. To achieve this, Carl incorporates other modalities into his work such as:
• Cognitive Behavioural Therapy & Mindfulness
• Hakomi Method
• Solution-Focused Therapy
• Dialectical Behaviour Therapy
• Narrative Therapy
• Art & Play Therapy
• Family Systems
• EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing)
Increasing compassion, acceptance, and allowing more conscious choice (opposed to unconscious reactions or habits) in our lives are other central themes you will encounter when working with Carl.
Carl works with people of all ages and backgrounds, including couples. He graduated with distinction from Yorkville University and holds a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology.
Carl is a provider for Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB). This means sessions can be billed directly to NIHB, making sessions free of charge for all individuals with a valid Status Number or N-Number.
Carl is also a provider for Federal Government employees. This means sessions can be billed directly to Health Canada for sessions within their Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
